“Il Ciarlatano”, originally written by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi offers the perfect base for a pop-up opera stage. This production was put together as part of the Utrecht Early Music Festival and evolves around an original Piaggio Ape, that serves as the pop-up stage. Inspired by street theatre and the Commedia dell'Arte, this new take on Pergolesi's Ciarlatano brings baroque opera closer to new audiences, especially to those who usually don't go to operas.

Since the aforementioned Piaggio Ape gets such a central role in the play, it was quite obvious that it should also be very present in the pictures. In a very fun and entertaining photoshoot we created some speaking images of the full cast as well as individual portraits that bring out the characteristics of every character.
